home alarms monitoring

I thought it was very interesting and informative about the new wireless security cameras that allow you to view footage from a secure site on the web. This seems like some advanced level system that I would have seen on a crime show or something, but it seems that this top of the line technology is now making it out to the general market. The best feature of this, from my perspective, is that I could watch the footage from wherever I may be in the world– inside the home, at work, or on vacation– and be able to monitor how things are going at different locations around my home. Plus, since the camera would only be activated under certain conditions, I do not need to waste time poring through blank footage of my yard, for example. This is great news. I also liked the discussion of the technical differences between different types of camera, most of which was new to me.

Wifi controlled lights allow you to turn the lights on and off and depending on the type you choose you can also dim, change colour and even flash in time to your music, great for parties!Another great element of smart homes is the added security and safety, one way this can be achieved is by using smart smoke detectors. These work in the same way as a ‘dumb’ smoke detector however they have the added functionality of an app that can alert you in you are not home, great if you have pets and want to keep an eye on your house. Some smart smoke alarms, for example Nest Protect, have added functionality like voice guidance that talks to you rather than just beeping annoyingly.

When burglary or theft reports are reviewed, it is striking how many similarities there are in the reports. Often, doors and windows were left unlocked, alarm systems were not activated, a few homes were not properly illuminated, and many doors had dead bolt locks – but, they were not used. While you are performing your spring cleaning be sure to take a look at your home like a burglar might do, and try to make your home more resistant to an intruder. Below is a security check list which may assist you as you take on this important task. It is OK to take an “Us against Them” attitude when it comes to home security and your personal safety because home security really does matter. Examine your front and back door locks and make sure they are properly working. The doors are a burglar’s most common means of entry. Know that a steel or solid core door, not a hollow core door, is more resistant to forced entry.
